Malpua is a deep fried Indian pancake like dessert which has been India's winter obsession for over 3000 years. There is something about winters and the winter spring cusps that automatically tends us towards desserts. Malpua is one such winter treat we can never say no to that. Malpua is a part of the sakala dhupa or morning food served to the Lord Jagannath in Puri, Odisha. There are different versions of Malpuas. But most of the Odia people don't add the puas in sugar syrup. We people use sugar in the batter. Today I prepared Goddess Lakshmi's most favourite chhena banana Malpua for Prasad in which I used milk for making the batter.
