Classic phirni

Phirni is a smooth creamy dessert popular mostly in northern parts of India. But if you see this recipe and replicate, it will be popular at your home too. It is a very easy dessert so try it out! #phirni #groundrice #week10 #goldenapron23

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Start boiling milk in slow heat. As it comes to boil, add the ground rice. Let the rice cook.

* Step 2

Gradually the phirni becomes thicker, as the ground rice is getting cooked. Next add in sugar. Mix well. Then add milk powder, it makes the phirni creamier. Mix well so that milk powder doesn't form lumps. Let everything get cooked in slow heat. Next add cardamom powder and mix well. Add salt to balance taste.

Let all flavours combine well and as you get that perfect thick consistency switch off the heat. Phirni becomes thicker upon cooling. Transfer the phirni into small serving dishes/ matkas/ shikoras and keep in fridge, till it's nice and cool. Garnish with almond slivers and serve!
