Brown rice dates kheer

This is an interesting recipe... since we usually make kheer with white rice..do try this kheer with brown rice. This kheer is also healthy in a way..as it's white sugar free... Ingredient

45 minutes
750 ml

milk

1 tbsp+ 1 tbsp

ghee

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Start by nicely washing the soaked brown rice and strain water. Now place a pressure cooker, add ghee, add brown rice and saute for a minute or two. You can coarsely grind the brown rice also. So it's your wish.

Next add 500 ml milk into the cooker, add salt.

Cover the lid and pressure cook for 7 whistles in slow flame. As you remove lid after cooling, mash the grains.

Mix well. Now add pounded cardamoms and bay leaf. Add 250 ml milk and continue cooking at slow flame till all the flavours combine well with each other.

As you get a nice aroma and you find perfect kheer consistency, switch the flame off. Let it cool. As it becomes warm, add the dates syrup. Adjust as per your taste. Mix well.

Let brown rice dates kheer cool down.

In the meantime, fry dry fruits in ghee. Add few in the kheer and mix. Keep few for garnishing. Transfer the kheer into serving bowl.. garnish with fried cashews and kishmish.
