Sooji sweet corn instant dhokla

Sooji sweet corn instant dhokla

This dhokla can be your savior if you want to serve anything very quick.

Ingredient

Food ration :

4 persons
1 cup

sooji

1/2 cup

curd

as per taste

Salt

Pinch

hing

1/4 tsp

cumin seeds

1 pinch

turmeric

1/2 tsp

fruit salt

1 tsp

oil

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

In a mixing bowl put sooji, salt and curd. Mix well. If required add little water. Cover and keep for resting for 10-12 minutes. After resting the sooji must have absorbed moisture and become soft.

* Step 2

Next place a tadka pan. Heat it with oil. Splutter mustard seeds, cumin seeds, add hing and put boiled sweetcorn. Add turmeric and red chilli powder. Saute all for a minute. Switch off and let it cool. Add this tadka into the sooji mixture. Mix evenly. Just before pouring the batter into the steaming vessel, add fruit salt and give a gentle mix. Do not overmix else your dhokla will not become fluffy.

Put steaming unit with a glass of water and heat it for 2 minutes in the microwave.

* Step 4

Next take a microwave safe vessel/ tray and grease it. Pour in the sooji mixture and evenly spread it. Remember the batter must not be very runny neither should it be very thick.

Put this vessel/ tray in the microwave steaming unit and microwave for 4 minutes. Check by poking if your knife comes out clean then fine, else steam for a minute more. As steaming may differ little bit. Switch off. Let it cool.

* Step 6

While it is cooling prepare the garnish tadka. Heat oil. Splutter mustard seeds and cumin seeds. You can add curry leaves and dry or fresh green red chilies in the tadka.

* Step 7

Loosen the sides. Garnish with some more boiled sweetcorn and add tadka on top. Line your knife with melted ghee and cut pieces of dhokla (This helps in easy cutting of the pieces).

* Step 8

Instant sooji sweetcorn dhokla is ready to serve. Serve with khatti meethi imli chutney and green chutney.
