Steel cut oats
I’ve had a container of steel cut oats in the pantry for months. I always eye it and think, nah…and I push it back. Today, I decided to give it a try. I personally don’t view one type of oatmeal better than the other, but I really liked the texture of these steel cut oats.

Cooking instructions
* Step 1
Combine the water and milk and simmer over medium heat.
* Step 2
Melt the butter in a skillet and once shimmering, add the oats and cook stirring occasionally, until golden and fragrant.
* Step 3
Stir the oats into the milk. Reduce heat to medium low, to maintain a gentle simmer. Cook for 20 minutes, until thick.
* Step 4
Stir in salt and mix and cook, without scorching, until almost all liquid is absorbed.
* Step 5
Remove from heat and mix in any of the optional adds-in.
* Step 6
Rest 5 minutes before serving with desired toppings.
