Samak Rice Idli Recipe

samak chawal

1 cup

sago

1/4 teaspoon

baking soda

as per taste

sendha namak

1 cup

water

1/2 teaspoon

refined oil

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

To prepare this snack recipe, wash the sago and samak rice under running water. Now, add them in separate bowls and soak them in water for a few hours. Once done, drain the excess water and transfer it into a food processor. Run it on high speed until both sago and rice turn into a smooth paste. Transfer this batter in a bowl and allow it to ferment overnight or fro 8-10 hours.

* Step 2

Check the batter and add salt along with baking soda in it, mix well. Next, grease the idli stand with a little oil and add the idli batter in the moulds, then place the stand in the steamer. Steam the idlis for 7-10 minutes. Once done, take these out from the steamer and transfer onto a platter. Serve samaka rice idli warm with coconut chutney to enjoy! (Optional: You can also use idli cooker to make these idlis.)
