Vanilla Gulab Jamun

Ingredient

khoya

maida

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Add sugar and water in a deep bottom pan and let it boil to make sugar syrup of one string consistency. Add saffron strands and cardamom powder. Check the consistency of syrup with your finger tips. Remove from flame and then add lemon juice.

Add khoya, maida, cardamom powder and baking powder in a bowl. Mix them together. Add vanilla extract. Knead a soft crack free dough by gradually adding milk if the dough remains dry.

Divide dough into 24 parts and roll into balls between palms

Add ghee to the pan. Heat up. When the heat is adequate check with a piece of dough Deep fry all balls at low flame till golden brown with continuous shaking so that jamuns get the colour evenly. Soak the gulab jamuns in syrup for around 20-30 minutes and then enjoy hot or with vanilla ice cream

First check it with a small piece of dough and then fry a bigger batch of jamuns
