Kunafeh

KUNAFEH is a traditional Middle Eastern dessert made with thin noodle like pastry (popularly known as sewai in India) layered with cheese (ricotta/cottage/mozzarella) and soaked in sugar based syrup.

Ingredient

Food ration :

2 people

Cottage cheese

1/2 cup

sugar

1 cup

water

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Crush the vermicelli into small bits with your hand. Add butter in the crushed vermicelliand mix well. Reserve half the vermicelli mixture for later use.

* Step 2

Now take a ramekin. Add 2 tbsp vermicelli.Spread evenly in the ramekin. Layer it with 1tbsp cottage cheese and 2 tbsp of mozzarella cheese. Again layer it with 2 tbsp of the reserved vermicelli.

* Step 3

Now bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for 20 minutes.

* Step 4

Cool down to room temperature and demould by flipping the moulds.

* Step 5

Prepare warm sugar syrup with sugar and water and pour it on the kunafeh.

* Step 6

Garnish with chopped pistachios on the top.

* Step 7

Kunafeh is ready to serve.
