Cornmeal Idli

Ingredient

yogurt

1 tsp

oil

1/2 teaspoon

mustard seeds

1/2 teaspoon

urad dal

1/2 tablespoon

fruit salt

1 and 1/2 cups

yellow cornmeal

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

In a large bowl combine the cornmeal, yogurt, water, ¾ tbsp of oil, mix well and keep aside for 30 minutes.

* Step 2

Heat the remaining ¾ tbsp of oil in a small pan and once the oil is a bit warm add the mustard seeds, urad dal, and chana dal.

* Step 3

Than add grates carrot and chopped coriander leaves.

* Step 4

Just before steaming, add the fruit salt and 2 tbsp of water over it. You may want to add a bit extra water if you think the batter is too thick.

* Step 5

Repeat with the remaining batter to make more idlis.Serve cornmeal idli with tomato chutney.
