Fried modak
A traditional sweet usually prepared as offering to Lord Ganesha
Ingredient

Cooking time :
25 to 30 minutes
Cooking instructions
* Step 1
Mix wheat, flour, semolina, ghee and salt nicely.
* Step 2
Add milk little by little, knead semi soft dough, cover and keep it for 15 min.
* Step 3
Add one tsp ghee in a pan, keep the gas flame low medium flame.
* Step 4
Add poppy seeds and fry for few seconds. Add shredded coconut and grated jaggery. Cook till jaggery melts and cook for two min.
* Step 5
Add cardamom powder and nutmeg powder. Mix well. Stuffing for Modak is ready.
* Step 6
Remove in a bowl and cool it down.
* Step 7
Now knead dough for a minute and make even sized balls.
* Step 8
Take one ball and roll it like a Puri. Place a spoonful of stuffing in the Center of Puri.
* Step 9
Apply milk on sides of the Puri and make folds as shown in my youtube video. Give the shape of the Modak to the Puri by moving it in on palm as shown.
* Step 10
Heat the oil or ghee in a frying pan, fry Modak on low flame for 4 to 5 min.
* Step 11
Take out on a paper napkins. Crispy Modaks are ready to serve.
