This recipe is a reminder for Simi's childhood. Her grandma made it for special occasions when more people were around. It is made of sourdough, so it needs its time. We hope you will like it :-)
Cooking instructions
* Step 1
Make a snow from 3 whites and pinch of salt, set aside. In a bigger bowl, mix flour, sugar, oil, snow, yeast and warm milk and make a dough with hands. Cover it with a clean cloth and let it grow in a warm place. The dough should double its volume, it can take 30 minutes to 2 hours.
* Step 2
Meanwhile cook pudding from sugar, milk, puddings and cocoa. Add margarine while stirring into a hot cooked pudding until it dissolves. Let cool.
* Step 3
Then divide the dough into 8 parts.
* Step 4
Roll out each part into a longer strip. Spread the filling on the strip and roll it lengthwise. You obtain the shape of a pipe/tube/snake.
* Step 5
Press the ends well so that the filling doesn't leak out. Then take 2 "pipes" and make a braid.
* Step 6
Place them on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Rub the top with remaining yolks. Let it sit for 10-20 minutes, it will grow a little again. (Here we made 2 classic braids, 1 braid from 3 parts and 1 snail shape.)
* Step 7
Bake at 180°C for 10-15 minutes. Cut, serve and enjoy
