Pork Shogayaki (Ginger Pork) Don
A ‘Donburi (Rice Bowl)’ dish is perfect for my lunch. There was a small block of pork belly in the fridge. Left over rice would be hot and fluffy again when microwaved. So I made this ‘Pork Shogayaki Don’ today. The cooked pork mixture would cover the rice, so the pork needs to be sliced thinly or cut into small pieces. Minced Pork would be fine for this dish. Another ‘quick & easy’ and delicious dish for you to try.
Cooking instructions
* Step 1
Use thinly sliced pork belly, stir-fry pork or pork mince. Chunky piece or steak needs to be sliced thinly so that it would be cooked quickly and easy to eat with rice.
* Step 2
Lightly season the pork with Salt and Pepper, and coat with Potato Starch Flour.
* Step 3
To make the sauce, place the grated Ginger, Soy Sauce, Mirin and Sake (OR Water) in a small bowl and mix.
* Step 4
Heat small mount of Oil in a frying pan over medium high heat, cook Pork and Onion. When the pork is cooked and onion is soft, add the sauce and stir to combine well.
* Step 5
Half fill a bowl with hot cooked rice and cover it with the pork mixture. Sprinkle some finely chopped Spring Onion on top.
