Flavoured croutons for soups and salads ๐ŸŒฟ ๐ŸŒฑ

Croutons are a nice way to liven up homemade soups and salads and add flavour and texture. The ones in the picture are Rosemary and lemon zest using homemade soda bread and the others are sourdough with garlic. I really like using interesting bread flavours too (see my soda bread recipe). These are a healthy alternative to traditional croutons as you only need a tiny bit of oil and toast or bake in the oven. Itโ€™s also a great zero waste recipe for using up the last of the bread as it starts to go stale.

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Toast the bread if needed and cut into cubes. If using soda bread, tear into chunks and bake for a few minutes in the oven.

* Step 2

Heat a few sprays of oil in the pan and toss the croutons until they are crispy. Alternatively heat the oven to medium high and spread on a baking sheet and spray or drizzle lightly with the oil. Cook until crispy and sprinkle on your homemade soup or salads ๐Ÿ˜‹
