Tomato Bredie

For the love of tomatoes.

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Place the meat into a ziploc bag. Put in the flour, close the bag and mix to coat the meat evenly.

* Step 2

Braze the meat in the pot with the oil, you might have to do this in 2 batches, and set aside.

* Step 3

Now braise the onions with the butter until it starts to brown. Add the tomato paste and fry for 2 minutes.

* Step 4

Now add the meat, garlic, ginger, tomatoes, salt, pepper, sugar, cumin, cinnamon, cloves and stock cube. Simmer over medium heat for 40 minutes, stirring from time to time.

* Step 5

Add the potatoes and carrots and continue simmering for another half an hour, stirring from time to time. Make sure the potatoes are cooked.

* Step 6

The bredie improves with keeping. Prepare a day in advance and leave to mature in the refrigerator. Reheat and serve with rice.
