Mulled wine

I love drinking this during Christmas, it makes everything feel so festive. Also hot drinks are nice to have when the weather is so cold.

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Pour red wine into a saucepan and add 2-3 orange slices (optional) along with the spices (piment or cloves, cinnamon and star anise) and sugar or honey (optional). Squeeze of fresh orange (optional).

* Step 2

On low heat, heat the red wine and let the spices and wine gently simmer, until hot and the room fills with the lovely aroma and fragrance (roughly 8-10mis).

* Step 3

Once hot turn off heat. Using a strainer remove the spices and orange slices. Tip: the spices can be reused for next time. Using a ladle pour the hot spiced wine into cups. Garnish with one or two orange slices and a cinnamon stick (optional). Serve and drink while hot.
