Wholewheat dinner rolls

I've really enjoyed my bread machine, and have experimented with quite a few recipes. I seldom actually bake in it though, preferring a more "free" shape. These dinner rolls turned out really well. I used one or two recipes from the net to get a guideline as to quantities of flour, but I have found that using at least one cup of white bread flour in either a wholewheat or a rye batch makes for a lighter bread. You can lightly brush with some melted butter just before you pop them into the oven. (Be careful to use light pressure so that they don't collapse.) I didn't do that this time.

Ingredient

Food ration :

8/10

Cooking time :

20 mins
1 1/4 cups

warm water

2 tablespoons

milk powder

2 tablespoons

oil

2 tablespoons

honey

2 tablespoons

molasses

1 1/2 teaspoons

salt

1 tablespoon

sugar

1/2 cup

bran

1 1/4 tablespoons

quick rise (machine) yeast

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

I've listed the ingredients according to my bread machine, however I believe different manufacturers may use a different order, so layer according to your machine instructions

* Step 2

DON'T leave the sugar out it helps with the raising process. If you feel it may be a bit sweet for you, rather cut down on the molasses. Set your machine to the dough cycle, and go read a book 😉. The machine does all the work.

* Step 3

Once the cycle is complete, pop your dough onto a lightly floured surface and divide into 8. You can push it to 10 if needed. Form rolls by pulling the dough and pinching the excess at the bottom. Some folk then place rolls into a muffin tin, I just pop them onto a baking tray that has been lined with non-stick baking paper. Cover with a clean tea towel followed by a light hand towel. leave in a warm spot for approximately 25 minutes

* Step 4

Heat oven to 190 degrees Celsius (I think that's 374 Fahrenheit) once the oven is ready, bake the rolls for 20 minutes. They should be brown on top, and if you tap lightly on the bottom, sound hollow.
