Moong Daal Milkmaid Halwa

#Holi2022 The moong dal halwa is packed with nutrition like zinc and protein which are good for health. The ingredients used in the dish are also good for the skin and keeps the skin moist and fresh. The potassium and magnesium present in the moong dal help in regulating blood pressure.

semolina

1 tbsp

gram flour

1 bowl

pure ghee

1 tin

milkmaid

8-10 strands

saffron

1/2 bowl

water

almonds

1 tbsp

melon seeds

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Soak saffron strands in warm water and keep them aside.

* Step 2

Wash and Soak moong dal in water for 4 hours. Now discard water and Grind dal in a mixer to a smooth paste.

Heat ghee in a wok. Add 1 tbsp each of gram flour and semolina and roast till aroma starts coming.

Now add dal paste and roast it while stirring continuously on a low flame.

It will take 15-20 minutes till ghee starts separating from dal and it will turn pinkish. Bubbles start coming. Roast it for 2-3 minutes more till it turns light brown.

Now add cardamom powder, all dry fruits chopped in small pieces, saffron soaked in water, melon seeds, and mix. Keep stirring continuously to avoid burning.

Empty the whole tin of milkmaid in it and continue stirring till it becomes thick. Switch off the flame.

Serve hot garnished with chopped dry fruits.

Note: gram flour and semolina are added to make the danedar texture of halwa. It also avoids the sticking of grinded dal at the bottom of wok.
