Chana daal

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Wash and Soak chana dal and rice in separate bowls for 15 minutes.

* Step 2

Make a puree of tomato by grating. Grate ginger also.

* Step 3

Heat cooking oil in a pressure cooker. Add cooking oil. Add cumin seeds and when cumin seeds splutter add cloves, bay leaves, cinnamon, black pepper seeds and put finely chopped onions and fry till golden. Now add ginger and tomato paste in it and saute till oil leaves. Now add salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, garam masala and mix well.

* Step 4

Add rice and dal and saute for 2 minutes. Add water. Place the lid and pressure cook till three whistles. Switch off the flame and let pressure releases automatically.

* Step 5

Serve hot with salad and curd.
