Gurasa (Bandashe)
Gurasa is a popular haush dish especially in Kano in the northern part of Nigeria. This recipe is so delicious I can assure you that. I have never tried making gurasa this was my first time and guys it was divine. Everyone enjoyed it at home. The secret to having that mouthwatering gurasa is to leave it stay for like 15 minutes in a food flask after making so that all that ingredients moisten together in d gurasa.
Cooking instructions
* Step 1
In a bowl, add flour, sugar, yeast, salt and water and mix for 5 mins. Note that the batter shouldn’t be watery. It should be like that of puff puff mix but a little bit thicker. It should be something like this.
* Step 2
Then cover with cling film or kitchen towel and allow to rise for 30 mins in a warm place.
* Step 3
Then get your non stick pan and turn on heat. Sprinkle potash water and place your batter. Use ur hands to spread d batter, allow to cook for 5 mins then flip to d other side and allow to cook as well.
* Step 4
Then arrange In your flask as you are frying
* Step 5
I get my garnishing ingredients.
* Step 6
Firstly I sprinkle some vegetable oil on top of the gurasa. Then I add yajin kuli (you can add maggi if ur yaji doesn’t have much maggi) and add more oil
* Step 7
Then I arrange my tomatoes, onions and green pepper on top. I repeat for all placing them on top of each other till I finish.
* Step 8
As I said earlier, to get that mouth watering gurasa. Leave it in the flask closed for like 15 minutes so that everything soaks into d gurasa. Then you enjoy delicious gurasa😋😋
