Japanese Tofu

Japanese Tofu

#HBC Tomago Tofu (Tomagodofu) or Japanese Tofu is a very healthy way to enjoy breakfast or as an appetiser on a hot summer day. It’s more like a flan and similar to Chawanmushi although soya is not used.

Ingredient

Food ration :

1 serving

Cooking time :

Preparation time-10 mins, Cooking time-2h20 mins
For

Tofu

1 Tbsp

Mirin

1/2 tsp

salt

For

Sauce

1 Tbsp

soya sauce

1/2 cup

Dashi

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

For Tofu - in a bowl break eggs, beat

* Step 2

Add Daishi, salt, and Mirin and mix well

* Step 3

Place on a square baking tray or individual water-resistant glass bowls. Remove the bubbles

* Step 4

Steam covered for 12-13 mins, set aside to cool completely

* Step 5

Refrigerate for 2 hrs

* Step 6

For Sauce - in a pan heat water, add Dashi, Mirin and Soya sauce and bring it to boil, set aside to cool

* Step 7

Serve on a bowl of rice and place the Tofu, drizzle with sauce and garnish with spring onions chopped
