Bendakaya Pulusu/ Okra in Tamarind Gravy

This is a part of Andhra cuisine and I love Andhra cuisine a lot. Tamarind being my favourite and Okra too I enjoyed this recipe with steamed rice.

Preparation time-7 mins, Cooking time-10 mins
Cooking instructions
* Step 1
In a bowl put the tamarind and add 1/2 cup warm water and keep it soaked
* Step 2
Cut the Okra to 1” pieces. In a wok heat oil and add mustard seeds, when splutters add chopped onion, asafoetida and stir until translucent
* Step 3
Add Sambhar powder, Turmeric powder, Red chilli powder, curry leaves and stir well. Add okra’s and stir well for 5 mins
* Step 4
Strain the tamarind after deseeding and add to the Okra, add 1 cup water and cook on low flame for 7-8 mins until the okra is cooked
* Step 5
Plate and enjoy with steamed rice
