Masala Seeyam
Cooking instructions
* Step 1
In a large bowl, add raw rice and urad dal. Soak in water for one hour. After an hour drain out the water. Rinse it well with fresh water and again drain out all the water. Transfer it to a mixer. Add little water at a time and grind it to a thick smooth paste. Transfer the paste to a mixing bowl. Add salt and mix it well. The batter should be thick and flowing. Set it aside.
* Step 2
Heat oil in a tadka pan. Add mustard seeds and allow it to crackle. Add the chopped green chillies and curry leaves and saute quickly for few seconds.
* Step 3
Next add the chopped onions and little salt. Note that salt is already added in the batter so add accordingly. Saute until the onions are translucent.
* Step 4
Add the freshly grated coconut and saute for a minute or two. Switch off the flame.
* Step 5
Add the prepared tadka to the batter and mix until well combined.
* Step 6
Heat oil in a deep frying pan. Carefully drop small balls into the hot oil. Fry only few at a time. Flip and fry until golden brown in color.
* Step 8
Remove on paper towel to drain away the excess oil.
* Step 10
Tasty Masala Seeyam is ready. It is tasty by itself when consumed hot. Serve and Enjoy with any chutney of your choice.
