Tricolour Semolina Burfi

#IDC Tricolour Semolina / Suji Burfi is a delicious dessert made with suji or rava, milk,sugar,assorted chopped nuts and few drops orange and green food colour .This gives a perfect tricoloured combination of our Indian Flag and a perfect dish to serve on 15 th August ,Independence Day and to celebrate the true spirit of India.

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Heat 2 tbsp ghee in a non-stick pan. Add semolina and fry till light golden brown. Then pour warm milk and water in rava. Add sugar,chopped cashewnuts and raisins.If needed add some more milk.Bring it to boil.Sprinkle cardamom powder and mix well.

* Step 2

Once the milk is absorbed,switch off flame.Add some more ghee and divide the halwa into 3 equal parts in separate plates.Dissove green food colour with 2 tsp water and mix it in one part of halwa.Dissolve orange food colour similar way and mix it in another portion.Leave the third portion as it is.

* Step 3

Gently mix the diluted colours well with a spoon in each portion. Grease a mould with ghee.Place the green coloured layer underneath. Smoothen the surface with the back of a spoon.Place the colorless portion over the green layer.Again make the third layer with Orange coloured halwa.Press and pack gently the layers in the mould. Rest for half hour.Invert the entire block on a plate.Halwa has enough ghee,so it won't crumble.

* Step 4

Cut into desired shape or burfi.Pierce a clove on top and serve warm a delicious dessert to family and friends.Wishing Happy Independence Day to all !
