Chicken Jalfrezi

Chicken Jalfrezi is a popular semi-dry chicken curry dish. It incorporates red and green capsicum /bell peppers with onions, tomatoes and chicken with bones or boneless, in a spicy semi-dry aromatic gravy. This dish can be served as an appetizer and also pairs well with butter garlic naan, tandoori roti or any Indian flatbread or Jeera Rice for lunch or dinner.

Cooking instructions
* Step 1
Marinate chicken with 1 tbsp vinegar,1/4 tsp salt, and 1/4 tsp turmeric for an hour.Heat oil in a pan. Sprinkle minced garlic and ginger juliennes. Saute for a few minutes and add chicken. Saute until it changes colour from pink to pale and looks fried. In a separate pan saute sliced onion, cubed red and green bell peppers and set aside.
* Step 2
Add ginger garlic paste to the pan in which the chicken is fried. Add pureed tomato and saute over high heat. Add turmeric, Kashmiri red chilli powder, cumin, coriander powder and black pepper powder. Add the chicken, tomato ketchup, salt and pinch of sugar to taste. Toss till well mixed. Add 1/4 cup water and cook covered on low flame till chicken is cooked. Add stir-fried bell peppers, crushed kasoori methi, and chilli flakes.
* Step 3
Give it a good stir and cook till gravy coats chicken. Garnish with chopped green and red chillies, chilli flakes and chopped coriander. Remove from heat and serve delicious Chicken Jalfrezi with bones or boneless as an appetizer or as a side dish with garlic butter naan, tandoori roti, or any Indian flatbread or Jeera Rice.
