Raw Banana Kofta

#NVM #northindian Koftas are quite popular in Indian cuisine and they can be prepared in various ways with different vegetables. These koftas soak up the flavours of the gravy made and as such tastes delicious. Raw Banana Kofta is a rich and classic dish in North Indian cuisine.Here raw banana is boiled,mashed and made into koftas alongwith mashed potato and spices.They are then deep fried and immersed in a rich cashewnuts, yogurt ,tomato and creamy gravy .Simple ingredients in our pantry make this an authentic recipe that can be served in lunch or dinner and pairs very well with phulka,tandoori roti, naan or jeera rice.

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Pressure cook raw banana upto 2 whistles.Release steam after 5 minutes. Boil 1 potato and mash both of them with a masher.Add gramflour,chopped onion,ginger garlic paste,dry masalas listed for koftas.Also add chopped green chillies, coriander,mustard oil,salt and sugar to taste.Mix them properly. The mixture is now ready for the koftas.

* Step 2

Smear oil in palm and make small koftas out of the mixture.Heat oil for deep frying in a pan.Once the oil is hot,reduce flame to medium and gently place the koftas into the hot oil.Deep fry till golden brown and set aside.

* Step 3

For the gravy: Make a paste of lightly roasted cashewnuts,melon seeds,adding ginger garlic paste,malai or fresh cream and curd.Blend to a smooth paste. Remove excess oil from pan. In 2 tbsp oil, sprinkle half crushed whole garam masala. When they splutter,add hing. Toss and add chopped onion.Saute till light brown.

* Step 4

Now add the ground paste, turmeric,kashmiri red chilli powder,black pepper powder,roasted cumin powder,Shaan Korma Masala,kasoori methi,tomato puree,salt and sugar to taste.Toss till oil leaves sides.Add water as needed and bring it to boil. Reduce flame and simmer till it reaches desired consistency. Carefully place the koftas in the gravy and lightly toss.

* Step 5

Place the koftas in a serving bowl and pour the gravy on top.Sprinkle a teaspoon of ghee and allow it to sit for 10 minutes.Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve warm, a delicious restaurant style creamy Raw Banana Kofta in lunch or dinner with phulka,naan, tandoori roti or jeera rice.
