Tuvar or Tur Dal with Beans

Tuvar or tur (arhar or split pigeon peas) dal is protein rich and adding vegetables of choice like beans etc makes it highly nutritious.Adding few spices makes this a flavourful side dish which pairs very well with plain or jeera rice or roti and paratha.

Cooking instructions
* Step 1
Soak tur dal for an hour.Drain water and pressure cook dal with 2 cups water,turmeric and salt upto 2 whistles.Release pressure after 2 minutes.
* Step 2
Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan.Sprinkle mustard, cumin seeds,and 2 broken dry red chillies.When they crackle,add hing and few curry leaves.Add minced garlic and chopped onion.Fry and add chopped tomato,coconut and beans.Sprinkle some salt and fry in medium flame till beans are cooked.Add this to the dal and give it a boil.
* Step 3
Add tamarind pulp and boil till dal thickens.Garnish with chopped coriander.Sprinkle ghee and serve hot with plain or jeera rice or roti or paratha.
