These moong dal vadas are bit different yet they are very tasty ...really... You can have them with green chutney/ khatti meethi chutney...or just with tomato sauce... They are versatile...You can use them to make curry with potatoes.... and it is also very delicious... So check out the recipe!! I will show you two ways of making the vada...one WITH ONION and another WITHOUT ONION. * Step 1

Take split moong dal and gota urad dal in a vessel. Wash and soak them at least for 4 hours. Next wash the soaked dals and strain the water. Now in a blender jar, put the dals, salt, turmeric powder, hing, cumin seeds, dry red chillies and minimum water.

Blend it into a coarse paste. Now transfer this into a bowl. Cover and let it rest for at least 30 minutes. See resting is important. Next add into it cumin seeds and crushed ajwain. Ajwain aids in digestion and also enhances the flavours.

Now whip mix the batter for nice areation. If you are making it WITHOUT ONION THEN... Side by side heat oil. Take small portions from the prepared mixture and put into medium hot oil. Flip sides and fry till the vadas are crispy and golden brown. Strain the extra oil.

Now... IF YOU ARE MAKING IT WITH ONION then... Add finely sliced onion, finely chopped green chillies, grated ginger and few curry leaves into the prepared mixture. Whip mix using a spoon and then put small portions into medium hot oil...They increase in size as it gets fried. Fry the vadas till they are crispy and golden brown. Drain extra oil and serve hot... MOONG DAL VADAS WITH ONION ARE READY!! It tastes heavenly with masala chai...

* Step 1

Start by making a paste of ginger, tomato, green chilies, and 1/2 tsp cumin seeds with water. Keep aside. Next put oil in a kadhai, as it is hot, add cubes of paneer, salt, and saute. Do not over fry else it becomes rubbery. Take them out and keep them aside. In the same oil, splutter cumin seeds, add the prepared masala paste. Add salt, turmeric, and red chili powder.

Let the masala cook and leave oil. Then add coriander powder, cumin powder, sugar. Mix all well. Next, add the boiled potatoes. Mix and cook for some time so that masala flavors combine with potatoes. Next, add green peas. Mix. Add little water, cover, and cook. If you are taking frozen peas then no need to cover and cook. Just add and mix. Remember to wash and strain the water from the frozen peas before using.

Next, add the fried paneer. Mix and cook in slow flame as such. As all flavors combine with each other, add hot water. Let it cook in open at medium heat. As you get the required consistency, put garam masala. Mix. Put chopped coriander leaves. Mix. Switch the flame off. Cover for a minute or two.

#For_Assembling_the_Biryani: In a large pan add half of the boiled rice, top with all fish masala with fish pieces then add the leftover rice and sprinkles some food colour, dried plums, lemon and tomato slices cover the lid with a tea towel and simmer it for 7-8 minutes. Serve hot and enjoy.

In a frying pan heat 5 tblsp oil add the cashew nuts, onions and soften the onions on high flame and then add the tomatoes and cook till gets soft, then leave it to cool and grind to a paste.
