Spicy Nattō Fried Rice

Spicy Nattō Fried Rice

Nattō, fermented Soy Beans, is a very nutritious and healthy food, but many people hate it because of its smell. I have shared many Nattō recipes on this website. Here is another one you can try. It’s a Spicy Fried Rice cooked with Toban Djan (Chilli Bean Sauce). As Toban Djan is quite salty, DO NOT add too much Soy Sauce. 1 teaspoon is maximum.

Ingredient

1 teaspoon

Soy Sauce

1 container

Nattō

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Cut Pork (OR other meat) into small bite-size pieces. Chop up Garlic and Spring Onion. Mix Nattō with sauce and mustard that should be included in the container. Prepare everything before you start cooking.

Heat Oil in a frying pan over medium high heat and cook Pork and Garlic. When Pork is cooked, very lightly season with Salt & White Pepper, then add Cooked Rice, Spring Onion, Toban Djan and Soy Sauce, and stir to combine.

* Step 3

Add Nattō, stir to combine, and it is done. Enjoy with a refreshing salad. Today I added Lettuce & Cucumber Salad.

2 . Okra & Pork Rice Bowl

Okra & Pork Rice Bowl

Okra & Pork Rice Bowl

The main ingredient of this dish is Okra. It surprises me to know that there are many people who have never cooked OR eaten Okra. My favourite cooking method is deep-frying, but stir-frying would be the easiest. Today I stir-fried Okra with Pork, but you can use Chicken instead. As I always eat the dish with Rice, I made it into a rice bowl. Quick and easy, and delicious!

Ingredient

1 teaspoon

Sesame Oil

1/2 tablespoon

Sugar

1/2 tablespoon

Soy Sauce

1/2 tablespoon

Oyster Sauce

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Combine all the Sauce ingredients in a small bowl.

* Step 2

Heat Sesame Oil in a frying pan over medium heat, cook Okra for a few minutes, add Pork, and stir until Pork is nicely browned. Add the Sauce and stir to combine.

* Step 3

Half fill a bowl with warm Cooked Rice, cover it with the Okra and Pork mixture, and enjoy.

Stir-fried Ham, Egg & Lettuce Rice Bowl

If you have ‘Ham, Egg & Lettuce’, you can make this simple rice bowl. Follow the recipe and stick to it. I am sure you will think the amount of Lettuce is too much, but it is not. The volume of the Lettuce will be reduced significantly when cooked, you might wish if you have added more.

Heat Oil in a frying pan over medium hight heat, cook Egg quickly just like cooking ‘Scrambled Egg’. Transfer to the bowl that you used to whisk the Egg.

* Step 3

Add a small amount extra Oil to the pan and stir-fry Ham and Lettuce. Add Salt, I added 1/8 teaspoon, some White Pepper and Chicken Bouillon Powder, and stir. Return the Egg, and stir to combine.
