Chana dal idli

#Protein_rich_recipe This is a very tasty idli recipe full of protein as I incorporate chana dal ( split bengal dal) with urad dal to prepare these idlis. They are very healthy , soft and delicious.

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Soak all the ingredients except salt for 4 hours

* Step 2

Grind to fine paste with the soaked water.

* Step 3

Keep the batter overnight to ferment.

* Step 4

Grease an idli mould with 1 tsp of oil.

* Step 5

Put 2 cups of water in a idli steamer and let it boil.

* Step 6

Pour batter to each mould and place the stand in the steamer.

* Step 7

Let them cook in the steamer for 10-12 minutes.

* Step 8

After 10 or 12 minutes or when idlis puffed completely, take out from steamer and let them cool.

* Step 9

Take out the idlis from the mould and keep them in a plate.

* Step 10

Heat 2 teaspoon of oil and add mustard seeds, chana dal, dry red chillies and curry leaves, and let everything splatter.

* Step 11

Pour this tempering over the prepared idlis.

* Step 12

Serve them with peanut coconut chutney.

* Step 13

You can also enjoy these protein enriched idlis with beetroot hummus.
