Honey cake

After going through many recipes different cookbooks, my cousin gave me this one from her mother my aunt Hannah. Marvellous! The Golden Syrup did the trick, I would like to try with Maple Syrup that it is rather expensive, and this one is fantastic

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Add the syrup, milk and butter, in a bowl and warm up until melted - even in a microwave or over hot water.

* Step 2

Beat the eggs and then add all the ingredients together beating until well mixed. Spiced almonds may be sprinkled lightly over the top before baking.

* Step 3

Bake in a shallow 10 inch rectangular pan or loaf tin in a 180° approximately one hour.

* Step 4

Leave to cool, then wrap in foil and leave for about 3 days in the fridge for it to mature. This can be frozen, and just let come to room temperature before serving
