Moujaddara - Yellow Lentils

When you don’t have any meat in the fridge and you need to make it to the end of the month 💸 or you feel that you just want something quick and easy, go lentil 🤷‍♀️ This Lebanese recipe is made of 3 main ingredients that you definitely have in your kitchen 👩🏻‍🍳 #vegetarian #vegan #cookingonabudget #lebanese

Ingredient

2 cups

red lentils

Handful

basmati rice

5.5 cups

water

1 tsp

salt

1/2 tsp

cumin

3 tbsp

olive oil

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Wash the lentils and the rice first and soak them in water for 10 min

* Step 2

In a pot, start frying the onion in the olive oil

* Step 3

Once the onion is softened, add the lentil, rice, cumin and salt to it

* Step 4

Add the water to the mixture and cover the pot

* Step 5

Stir every 5 minutes for ~30 min until you get a porridge like consistency as in this picture

Tada 🎉 your food is ready! Enjoy it with flatbread and olives. We usually have on the side a plate of fresh mint leaves, green onion and radish.
