Green Moong Dal Sweet Khichudi

Today, we celebrated "Bahuda Yatra" of Lord Jagannath in Odisha. On the 9th day after the Rath Yatra, Lord Jagannath, along with his brother and sister, return from their Aunt's (Mausi) house to the temple.

Ingredient

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Rinse the Moong Dal and Rice in water and then soak them for 30 minutes.

Powder both cardamoms, cloves and pepper; mixing them into a rough powder.

Heat ghee in the pressure cooker. Add cumin seeds and bay leaf, and allow the cumin seeds to splutter. Add coconut and fry it for a minute.

Now, mix dry ginger powder, sugar, salt, mixed cardamom powder and 5 cups of water. Let the water boil.

Add the soaked moong dal and rice. Pressure cook for 1 whistle and allow the pressure to release naturally.

Sweet Khichdi is ready. Garnish with almonds, cashews and serve hot with chutney.
