3 tablespoons

Baking soda

Lemon juice

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

First, lets make the pie covering: Take a glass bowl. Sieve the flour, baking powder, cinnamon powder. Add sugar and mix well

Then add the butter and mix with fingertips so that it coats the flour properly.

Mixture should resemble bread crumbs. Then add milk in very small quantity and mix to a firm dough.

Then chill the dough wrapped in cling film for 20 minutes.

* Step 6

To make the filling: Heat butter in a pan. Keep flame low. Then add chopped apples and cook till they are soft and translucent.

Then add sugar and cook till water is reduced and you have a chunky sauce like apple filling ready.

Then add cornflour, food colour and mix well. Cook further for 5 minutes. Mix well. Remove and cool for 20 minutes. Now preheat oven to 180°c.

* Step 9

Then take out the pie dough from fridge. Let it thaw on tabletop for 5 minutes in a bowl of hot water. Take a large bowl. Divide into big sized balls.

Roll out to a thick disc the size of your pie dish. Grease a pie dish with butter. Place the disc on the base. Cut off extra edges. Prick with fork all over the base.

Pour some rajma beans and blind bake the pie crust for 5 minutes. Then take out and remove the rajma beans. (This is called blind baking the pie to get a crusty base) Then take a spoon and fill the base with prepared filling.

Roll out another disc and cover the top. Press the edges and remove excess dough. Brush the top with milk and sprinkle sugar.

You can make a design with dough to garnish the top. Mak small cuts on the top with knife to let the steam release.

Place in oven and bake for 20 To 25 minutes. Take out and brush the top with butter.

Then serve warm with ice cream and enjoy!
