Dhokar Dalna

It is a Bengali vegetarian curry recipe made with onion and garlic. The original recipe uses chana dal. But here I am using besan to make these "dhokas"

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

In a bowl add besan, turmeric powder,salt, cumin seed, carom seed, hing, garam masala, coriander leaves and green chilli. Mix it with 2-3 cup of water.

* Step 2

Now in a pan heat mustard oil. Pour the besan mixture. Stir continuously until it becomes dry. Add one grated potato. Mix well. Then switch the flame off.

* Step 3

On a plate spread some oil. Then pour the besan mixture on it. And set the mixture. After 15 minutes or after it sets then cut into square shape.

* Step 4

Now in a karahi heat oil. Fry the besan pieces. Then take it out from karahi.

* Step 5

Now in the same oil add whole green cardamom, cinnamon,cloves. After few second add chopped onion in it. Cook for 2-3 minutes.

* Step 6

Add tomato paste, ginger and garlic paste. Cook for two minutes. Add salt, sugar, turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder. Cook for 3-4 minutes.or until oil separates from the sides.

* Step 7

Now add two cups of water and boil it. Add besan pieces and boiled potatoes. Cook for 5 minutes.

* Step 8

When gravy thickens add garam masala powder and ghee. Serve it with plain rice.
