Orange Almond Loaf

Orange Almond Loaf

A soft, moist, citrus loaf made with freshly squeezed oranges and chopped almonds that goes well with hot drinks 🍊 #sweetdish

Ingredient

sugar

60 ml

1/2 cup

milk

1/4 cup

cornflour

1/2 tsp

salt

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Preheat the oven at 180 °c. Cream the butter and sugar together with the oil and essence.Beat the eggs and add to the butter mixture.

Sift in the flour and baking powder, lightly mix it. Add the orange rind, orange juice and warm milk, mix it till smooth.Fold in the almonds and pour the batter into a lined loaf tin.

Bake for 25/30 mins testing the middle with a toothpick.Leave it to cool.

Prepare the glaze.In a pot add the sugar and cornflour.Mix it through, add the orange and lemon juice and stir till dissolved.Add the rest of the ingredients and place on low heat.Keep watch on the glaze stirring frequently.Leave it on low till it thickens.Take off heat and cool

Once it has cooled, place the loaf on a plate then pour the glaze all over.Decorate the top with toasted almonds and enjoy.
