Bierock casserole
Bierocks are a German stuffed roll. It is a loved recipe in our family but they take a long time to make so I created a short cut. The dough used is a sweet bread dough. If you have extra, make cinnamon rolls or dinner rolls!
Cooking instructions
* Step 1
2 of the cups of flour in a bowl. Stir in sugar, salt and yeast. Heat milk, water and shortening until warm. Add toflour mix. Don’t kill the yeast with too hot of mixture! Add eggs and beat with mixer at low speed till mixed then at high speed for 3 more min. Stir in remainder of flour (by hand). Dough should be soft and sticky. Turn onto pastry sheet and knead until dough is smooth. Don’t over do it! Put back in bowl and cover with a cloth until the filling is done.
* Step 2
Brown hamburger. Drain of grease. Add onion, garlic, salt and pepper. Return to heat until browned. Add cabbage. Cook until wilted and combined.
* Step 3
Roll out half the dough and line a greased 9x13 inch pan. Sprinkle 1/2c grated cheese on bottom. Add hamburger mixture on top. Roll out second half of dough and add to the top. Roll them thin. You may not need all the dough.
* Step 4
Bake at 350*F for 20 min or until it is browned.
* Step 5
Options: with or without cheese. Add different spices.
