Vegetarian Tacos 🌮 (with TVP)

Vegetarian Tacos 🌮 (with TVP)

TVP or texturized vegetable protein is the preferred ingredient for many vegetarians. Is it made of soy* and it's a great source of protein and fiber. Today I used it as a taco base but it can also be used in stews, pastas, burgers and much more !

Ingredient

3-4 servings

Cooking time :

30 minutes

TVP

3 tbsp

olive oil

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Assembly ingredients and preheat oven to 475°F.

* Step 2

In a container, add the TVP and 1 cup of warm vegetable broth or water. Cover with a lid and let it sit for 10-15 minutes, or until the TVP has expanded and absorbed most of the liquid.

* Step 3

Once most the liquid has been absorbed, heat up over medium heat a pan and add 3 tbps of olive oil. Add TVP and some of the liquid. Stir for 1 minute.

* Step 4

Add 2 tbsp on taco seasoning, and tomato paste and mix. Lower heat, cover and let it soak up all the flavors for 5-7 minutes, constantly stirring.

* Step 5

Remove from heat and set aside.

* Step 6

Once the oven has been preheated, warm up tortillas (2-4 minutes)

* Step 7

Get a plate and start with a warm tortilla, taco sauce of choice, TVP, tomatoes, lettuce, and top off with shredded cheese.

Serve with a side of buttery white rice and enjoy!
