Homemade Sweet N'Sour Pork

Early in my marriage we didn't have much in the way of food goods and I wanted to "Wow" my husband by making his favorite Chinese dish. Over the years it has evolved to this delicious family pleaser. We are not big fans of spicy heat so if you like things on the hotter side just add some of the hot Asian chili that comes in a jar to the sauce.

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

In a large mixing bowl whisk together the egg and milk.

* Step 2

Add the pork, taking care to ensure each piece is well coated in egg mixture.

* Step 3

After the egg bath, roll the pieces of pork in the flour till all sides are well coated.

* Step 4

Add the meat to the oil a bit at a time. It may take a few batches to cook all the pieces.

* Step 5

Heat the oil on medium high heat. The faster your meat fries, the more tender it will be.

* Step 6

Line a plate with paper towels and place a colander over the plate. Remove cooked pieces of pork and allow them to drain in the colander.

* Step 7

Once all the meat is cooked, combine the pineapple juice, vinegar, grenadine and soy sauce in a small sauce pot.

* Step 8

Whisk in the cornstarch to the sauce pot and heat on medium, whisking frequently till the sauce is thickened.

* Step 9

In a large frying pan heat the coconut oil on high heat.

* Step 10

Once hot add all the veggies and sauté for 3-5 minutes. Or till the veggies are seared with a crisp-tender texture.

* Step 11

Reduce heat to medium and add the fried pork, pineapple chunks and the sweet n' sour sauce.

* Step 12

With a large spoon, fold all the ingredients together until the veggies and pork are shiny from the sauce.

* Step 13

Serve hot over steamed rice and enjoy.
