This rich and Chocolaty Pie has all the goodness of Chocolate and more Chocolate. It's gooey and fudgy. Absolutely divine and decadent. Nothing can beat it. A perfect Dessert for your families. This can be made in the comfort of your homes with very few ingredients. You can even make it with the readymade Pie base available in the supermarkets. However making it at home is also very easy. You can definitely give it a try. It's a baked version and fully homemade from scratch. No bake version is already shared on my profile here.
A perfect choice of Dessert for any occasion. Be it a kids party or a family reunion or a weekend special Dinner party with some of the closest bunch of friends or relatives, this is quite an impressive one. The best part is that it can be made in advance and relished. This way there is a lot of time saved and can be utilised for other preparations.
Ingredient
Food ration :
7-8 servings
Cooking time :
35-40 minutes
1/2 cup (diced into 1/4 inch cubes)
Cooking instructions
* Step 1
Add in the plain flour, sugar and butter cubes (cut the butter into small cubes). Mix all together until the mixture turns coarse like breadcrumbs. Add an egg or if not using replace it with 2 to 3 tablespoon of ice cold water, 1 tablespoon at a time to bind the dough. Do not knead. Just gather into a ball. And do not use much water, otherwise the pastry dough would shrink. Cover with a foil or a cling and place in the refrigerator for 25-30 minutes.
* Step 2
After the stipulated time, take it out of the refrigerator. Roll into a disc which is not exactly round and the edges being uneven too as basically it's a pastry dough. And that's perfectly okay. Place the disc gently into the pie pan next. Trim the edges of the pastry to fit the sides of the pan. Make sure you press your pie dough on the edges too.
* Step 3
Bake on 180° for about 30 minutes. After done, keep aside to cool. In the meantime, prepare the chocolate pudding or filling that is to be poured in the pie crust. For that, boil milk on a low heat. Whisk eggs, sugar, vanilla essence and cocoa powder until well combined. Now switch off the gas. And slowly add cocoa powder mix to the milk stirring all the while. Add butter as well. Mix well. Again allow it to simmer for 5-6 more minutes or until thick and luscious. Do not stop stirring.
* Step 4
When it's cool, add the prepared chocolate filling to the crust that was baked and cooled. Once the chocolate pudding or filling is cooled down to the room temperature, refrigerate it until set. That's it. Melt in mouth, flaky, buttery, fluffy and decadent baked chocolate pie is all ready to be devoured.
* Step 5
Slice and enjoy. It's a great one for important occasions or family reunions and get togethers. Or practically on any day. Even the weekends and special holidays. Yum!
