Aloo Methi Bondas

#cookpadindia #iftaar #innovative #Ramadan A spicy street food from South India in which spiced Potato balls are dipped in batter and deep fried but this time with an innovative twist by me using freshly chopped Fenugreek Greens or Methi. And that's what makes a huge difference here both in terms of taste and texture. These are very much similar to the Maharashtrian Batata Vadas. It is a lovely tea-time snack that can be served with any Chutney of your choice, although these taste yummy even on their own. These can be packed when travelling too and can be thoroughly enjoyed at Tea-time. Not only is it easy to make, it's absolutely amazing with Green Chutney. It's a must have for Iftaar in Hyderabad. And we all love to have them while breaking our fast. And with this super innovative try by me, it becomes even more a delightful affair. It tastes awesome with the use of fresh Fenugreek Greens or Methi. I have added it both the stuffing as well as the batter. Both the adults and the children would love it. And therefore you can very well make it a few more times as long as the Month of Ramadan lasts. And even after that for a delicious snack on any day at Tea-time to enjoy with family and friends.

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Make a thick batter using all the ingredients mentioned for the batter. Use of buttermilk depends upon the quality of the gram flour or besan. Therefore use it accordingly. Water can be used in it's place without a doubt.

* Step 2

Beat the batter well with a spoon or a whisk so that it mixes really well. And fluffy, super spongy bondas will be the outcome of it. Set aside for 15-20 minutes.

* Step 3

Add all the ingredients including the powdered spices too to a bowl with boiled and mashed potatoes. Mix well. Adjust whatever is needed according to one's own taste and preferences. Make medium sized round balls of equal size. Heat enough oil for frying on a medium flame.
