Masoor Dal Tadka

#Spiceweek2 #cumin #Masoor Dal is one of the most ancient dal. It has high nutritional value as it is a rich source of protein, fiber and minerals and has low-fat content. Masoor Dal is beneficial for the skin as it keeps the skin moisturized and healthy due to the presence of vitamin B.

masoor dal

2 1/2 bowl

water

1/4 tsp

salt

1 tsp

ghee

1/8 tsp

asafoetida

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Wash and Soak dal in water for 10 minutes. Transfer it in a pressure cooker. Add salt, turmeric powder and grated tomato and pressure cook till 2 whistles and switch off the flame. Let pressure releases automatically.

Heat oil in a wok. Add ginger and garlic and chilli paste. Saute for 30 seconds. Add chopped onion and cook till translucent and slightly pink.

Add chopped tomatoes and green chilli and saute till tomatoes turn mushy. Add dal and kasuri methi.

Cook it on low flame till 2-3 boil comes switch off the flame.

Heat oil in a wok. Add cumin seeds and when cumin seeds splutter add asafoetida and red chilli powder and saute for 1 minute. Pour this tempering on dal.

Serve hot with chapatti or rice garnished with chopped coriander leaves.
