Dal Khechudi

#RYS I prepared Dal Khechudi and Rasabali for Rathayatra as a part of 56 Bhogas that are offered to Lord Jagannath all year through and also on Rathayatra day too.

Ingredient

Food ration :

4 servings

Cooking time :

Preparation time-10 mins, Cooking time-30 mins
1 cup

Rice

1/2 cup

Moong Dal

3-4 Tbsp

ghee

4 cups

water

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Wash Dal and Rice separately and mix together, set aside.

* Step 2

Wash the vegetables and peel and set aside.

* Step 3

In a wok heat ghee, add Cinnamon stick, bay leaf, and black peppercorns and stir for 1 min, add minced ginger and stir for 2 mins, add vegetables and cook for 2 mins.

* Step 4

Add 4 cups of water and bring it to a boil, add rice and dal together and mix well, and cover to cook.

* Step 5

Meanwhile, in a mortar & pestle add cinnamon sticks and black peppercorns and make a powder, add this to the Khechudi and add salt. Mix

* Step 6

Cover to cook. Khechudi is ready, add little ghee before serving.

* Step 7

Serve in the earthen bowl and enjoy with Rasabali.
