Plum and apple Jam
#cookpadturns4 #cookwithfruits
I love plum jam. When we were small our relatives used to get fresh juicy plums from Darjeeling for us in Kolkata... .some we used to have directly and rest after we finished eating used to be turned into jam by mom before it got spoilt. It was the only jam I used to have with bread or roti lovingly as a kid because I am a butter loving person. As I had 4 ripe plums ( out of 6) & apples and the theme of #cookpadturns4 is #cookwithfruits, I thought why not cook a jam with both the fruits. So here's my delicious Plum & apple Jam in Cinnamon flavour. My son loved it ...his next demand was bake something with it !!!!
Ingredient
Food ration :
390 GMs jam
Cooking time :
Approx. 2 hours
Cooking instructions
* Step 1
Take the sugar in a big steel bowl. Chop the plums discard the seed....and add into it. Peel the apple and chop that too.
* Step 2
Add cinnamon powder, salt and lemon juice also and mix well and let it rest for at least an hour. This will help in softening and breaking down the fruit.
* Step 3
After an hour put it on the flame. Once it comes to boil, put the flame on medium low flame and cook it, stirring it frequently. After 20 minutes, smash the softened and cooked fruits with a potato smasher or a ladle till it breaks down (I have used a potato smasher as seen in pic). Cook for another 10 minutes or so.
* Step 4
Now you will see the jam has reduced and thickened. Run the spatula from one end to the other end, you will see that the jam will not come back flooding. That means your jam is ready. Once ready pour it in clean dry bottle or glass bowl whatever you have. Enjoy with your breads or bake something delicious!!! Bon Appetit!!!
