It is an Indonesian recipe which is filled with chicken and other ingredients. I have replaced chicken with minced soya chunks and used pizza sauce instead of fish sauce. It tastes great and is a good starter for any party.

Cooking instructions
* Step 1
Take the maida in a bowl. Add butter and mix till it resembles a breadcrumb consistency. Add some chilled water and make a stiff dough. Keep aside.
* Step 2
For the stuffing: squeeze water from the soya chunks and mince them. Mince garlic cloves.
* Step 3
In a pan add 2 tbsp oil. Add the onions garlic and chilli.
* Step 4
When onion turns colour a bit add minced soya chunks. Cook a bit. Add pizza sauce and soya sauce and mix. Add the potato and carrot and sesame oil. Mix well. Add few drops of water and cook till veggies are done. The stuffing should be really dry. When done, keep aside for cooling.
* Step 5
Divide the dough into two portions. Roll out the dough on a flat surface. With a cookie-cutter make small discs. Take one disc add a spoonful of filling cover with another disc. Pinch the sides and make a twisting design all around.
* Step 6
The design should be like shown in the picture. Repeat for all the dough and stuffing.
* Step 7
Heat oil in a pan. Deep fry the pastels on medium flame till crisp and flaky. Serve with local ginger cinnamon tea
