To celebrate the 4th birthday of Cookpad,I was looking for an interesting recipe to cook with fruits, and Pears or Naspati seemed perfect to make a tangy sweet and spicy chutney. The result was delicious! This preserve can be stored for a week in fridge and make perfect spread or side dish for sandwiches, Parathas and rice. Do try it and enjoy.

Cooking instructions
* Step 1
Wash, clean and dry the pears. Chop them into small pieces.
* Step 2
Heat a pan. Add oil and as it heats, add Mustard, methi, black peppers and saute' well. Then add hing or asafoetida, red chillies (broken in 2 to 3 pieces each) and saute' well.
* Step 3
Then add the pears and mix well. Add a small amount of salt to make them soft. Then add the chilli, turmeric and cumin powders and mix well. Add a tablespoon of water and mix all the spices well.
* Step 4
Then cover and cook till the pears are soft. Keep flame low and do not let it get completely dry. Add some water if the chutney gets dry.

When the fruit becomes soft, add jaggery, aamchur or dry mango powder and salt. Check taste and adjust spices as per taste. Cook for 2 minutes more.

Then switch off flame and transfer in a bowl. When it comes to room temperature, add vinegar, water and grind it to a coarse paste. Serve or store in a glass jar. Pear Chutney is ready to eat and enjoy.
