Amla is a very old fruit in India. It is usually eaten raw , juice or pickled . The fruit has been tested and proven to reduce the blood sugar and cholesterol.

Cooking instructions
* Step 1
Wash the gooseberries and dry it completely.
* Step 2
Then steam boil the gooseberries about 7-8 minutes.until the gooseberries become soft and then proceed.
* Step 3
Then cut the Amal into small pieces.dry roast the fenugreek and mustard seed, powder it.
* Step 5
Heat a heavy bottom kadhai or pan add sesame oil. Keep the flame on low and spluttered mustard seed and curry leaves, dry red chillies.
Then add Amal fry it 5 minutes.Then add Turmeric powder asafoetida, fenugreek and mustard seed powder and red chilli powder salt mix all well, make sure spices should not burn. Finally heat the mustard oil pour into the Amla pickle Mix it everything together.

Let the pickle absorb all the flavours for at least 2days. After 2days tasty gooseberry pickle is ready to serve with curd rice or any other dish.This will last in the refrigerator for 4-5months.
