Sambar with Drumsticks

Sambar acquires its taste from the vegetables used. Most times vegetable like drumsticks are used to give a distinct taste to the sambar. This drumstick sambar is made the same way as regular vegetable sambar which I had shared earlier. Ingredient

Food ration :

4-5 people

Cooking time :

35-40 minutes
1/2 cup

toor dal

1/2 tsp

urad dal

2 tablespoons

tamarind paste

3 tablespoons

sambar powder

as per taste

Salt as per taste

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Wash dal properly and soak for 10 minutes. Boil dal with lauki, turmeric powder and salt.

* Step 2

Take one heavy bottom pan put oil and add all the spices, red chilli and curry leaves. Fry for 2-3 minutes then add drumsticks and carrots and fryfor another 4-5 minutes with dash of water.

* Step 3

Then add dal, lauki, jaggery and water. Cover it for 6-7 minutes. Enjoy this with idli and coconut chutney.
