White sauce

As needed for the chicken pie recipe.

Ingredient

2 tablespoons

plain flour

2 oz

flora

1/2 pint

milk

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Melt flora in a non stick milk pan

* Step 2

Add the flour to the fat and mix into a paste. Cook this a little over a medium flame.

* Step 3

Whisk in cold milk. Whisking in should stop lumps forming. When smooth swap to a wooden spoon. Season with the black pepper and nutmeg and carefully heat until it thickens.

* Step 4

This sauce is very versatile- great for the chicken pie with the flavouring of a little chicken gravy granules. Or try adding handfuls of cheese to make a great sauce for pasta.
