Egg Sake

It’s a Japanese version of Eggnog, but it got to be HOT. This alcoholic beverage is called ‘Tamago-zake’ in Japanese, and it is offered to anyone who have a cold, even children. My mother always made it for me when I had a cold. You can burn off the alcohol by boiling Sake (Rice Wine) for a few minutes, but I don’t think she did it. This drink makes you feel warm and sleepy, and that way it helps you to get better. Of course you don’t need to have a cold to enjoy it.

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Microwave Method: In a heat-proof bowl, beat Egg and Sugar until creamy. Place Sake in a mug and heat in the microwave to hot, then add to the egg mixture slowly, whisking constantly, so that it won’t curdle. Heat again to make it hot or warm. Transfer to the mug and enjoy it.

* Step 2

Saucepan Method: Place all ingredients in a saucepan and mix well using a whisk. Place the saucepan over boiling water and cook, constantly whisking, until creamy.

* Step 3

Curdling Method: Place all ingredients in a saucepan and mix well using a whisk. Cook over the medium low heat, constantly whisking, until creamy just like cooking custard. In this method, the mixture will curdle. Using a hand blender, blend it until smooth.
