Kadai Beetroot Halwa

#new #week5of5 A perfect dessert to be enjoyed at mealtimes. And it's done in a Kadai in almost no time at all. The only thing is grating the Beetroot real thin. The rest of the process becomes a way lot easier and simpler. Half of the cooking time is needed for tenderizing the Beetroot. The rest half of it is enough for roasting it well and therefore whipping up a yummy Halwa becomes a lovely experience. Doing it this way henceforth will be loved by the Children too. Involve them in helping you out in the Kitchen so that they understand the value of cooking food for your loved ones. But ofcourse be careful and enjoy your mealtime preparations. Happy Cooking Everyone! Enjoy Cooking with Zee!

Ingredient

Food ration :

5 servings

Cooking time :

25-30 minutes
1/4 cup

Sugar

1/2 litre

Full fat milk

4-5 tbsp

Ghee

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

In a large Kadai, add grated Beetroot and Milk. Cook on a low heat for about 15 minutes well covered. Take care not to cover it fully, keep a wooden spatula inside it and bring the lid to almost near it. There will be a little gap seen. If covered fully, there is a chance of Milk oozing out. So be careful about that.

* Step 2

After 15-20 minutes, it's almost tender and soft. Now's the turn to add in the rest of the ingredients except the last one. Mix well and cook further for about 5 minutes on a high heat. Keep stirring it until the Sugar melts and Ghee starts leaving the sides.

* Step 3

Keep a watchful eye on it. Stirring is important so that it does not stick to the bottom and also the Halwa gets a proper bit of roasting that gives it an actual amazing flavour. It's done in almost 30-35 minutes. Garnish with slivered Almonds and Pistachios. Serve immediately. Enjoy!
